About Susan Welch

I received a BA in journalism from the University of Iowa and worked for the Minneapolis Tribune until 1975, when I began taking advanced English courses at the University of Minnesota. I received a Wallace Stegner Fellowship in Fiction Writing at Stanford University in 1977. After that, I stayed on at Stanford, receiving my MA in English in 1980. I began teaching creative writing at St. Catherine in 1987 and now teach not only creative writing but editing and literature courses, as well. I am the faculty adviser for the student literary magazine, Ariston. My book of short stories, Crowning the Queen of Love, was published by Coffee House Press in 1997. It was well-reviewed nationally and was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award.
