Censors and photographers in the third Republic of France

Abstract
On 1 July 1873, in the seventh chamber of the Tribunal correctionnel de Paris, photographer Gaudenzio Marconi was convicted of crimes public morality. According to court records, Marconi had supplied Pierre Pagnon with obscene photograps and instructions in selling them. Both men were sentenced to six months in proison and fined francs.
