Abstract
This chapter discusses feminist multicultural approaches to the understanding and treatment of eating disorders and body image dissatisfaction. Historical and contemporary feminist conceptualizations are presented, including a multicultural critique of feminist perspectives. Current approaches to treatment are detailed, including the lack of attention to feminist approaches in the research literature on therapeutic effectiveness. Integration of feminist therapy tenets with other therapeutic approaches is encouraged.
