About Susan Jacobson

Dr. Jacobson has worked in new media her entire professional and academic career. She received an MPS from New York University’s top-ranked Interactive Telecommunications Program and later earned a Ph.D. from New York University.

Her research is concerned with how social media shapes the relationship between journalists and news audiences, the impact of new media on journalism and the expressive qualities of multimedia. Her work has been published in top-ranked journals such as New Media and Society and The Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media.

She has won fellowships and awards from the CMM Institute, the Mellon Foundation, the Media Ecology Association and the Warburg Institute. She is active in new media industry organizations, and has sat on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Area New Media Association and the World Wide Web Artists Consortium of New York City.
