About Suganthi Sridhar

Dr. Sridhar received her bachelor and master’s degree in Biochemistry from Madras University, India, and her doctorate degree in Physiology from Southern Illinois University.  Her first postdoctoral fellowships was at the University of Kansas and was involved in the formulation and stabilization of experimental anti-cancer drugs from National Cancer Institute. Her second postdoctoral fellowship was at the Van Andel Research Institute, Grand Rapids MI.,  identifying a role for the metastatic tumor suppressor protein CD82 in prostate cancer metastasis.  Following this, Dr. Sridhar served as a tenured associate professor at the Biomedical Sciences department at Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids, MI.  During her tenure at GVSU, she taught courses in Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, Research methods and related areas .  In her lab she continued her research on identifying the role for CD82 I prostate cancer metastasis with undergraduate students and mentored 5 graduate students on their thesis.  Dr. Sridhar moved to USF, St. Petersburg  in 2016 and is currently an associate professor in the Integrative Biology department.  At USF, St. Petersburg campus she teaches 4 courses: Cell Biology (PCB 3023), Introduction to Biochemistry (BCH 3023), Special topics course on Pharmacology (BSC 4993), Special topics course on Pathophysiology (BSC 4993), along with an undergraduate research course (BSC 4910). Her lab is involved in research related to CD82 & CD151 and their role in prostate cancer metastasis with undergraduate students at USF, St. Petersburg.
