Teacher (2006)
  • Sue Thomson, ACER
Abstract
This article considers how the subjects that students choose in senior secondary years influence their educational and career options. The author looks at differences in the offering at Year 12 and what research shows about the influence of these choices as well as those of previous school experiences and family background. The author focuses on the research data from the Longitudinal Surveys of Australian Youth (LSAY). Profiles of participation in further education, training and work are included.
