About Subhrajit K. Saha

Dr. Subhrajit  Saha is an Assistant Professor of Agroecology in the Department of Biology at the College of Science and Mathematics  and is also a Georgia Southern  Sustainability Fellow. He teaches courses in agroecology, sustainable forestry, plants & civilization and environmental biology and has been awarded a certificate on Teaching in Higher Education by the Center for Teaching, Learning & Scholarship at Georgia Southern University. Dr. Saha’s research focuses on the art and science of sustainable agriculture and its applicability to climate change mitigation and adaptation. The key research areas are soil carbon sequestration, best management practices and ecological impacts of agroforestry, bioenergy crops, organic farming and most importantly food production. He has developed the Agroecology lab (gsuagroecology.weebly.com) at Georgia Southern University, mentored three graduate and over 10 undergraduate students, has a strong publication and grant record and holds affiliations with several professional organizations such as Agronomy, Crop and Soil Science Societies of America.

Teaching Interests: Agroecology, Biology of Plants, Sustainable Forestry, and Environmental Biology

Research Interests: My research focuses on the ecological aspects of the climate change mitigation and adaptation in agricultural and forest ecosystems. I am interested in understanding the role of agroforestry, organic farming and biofuel production in climate change management with special foci on soil carbon sequestration and plant nutrition.
