About Steven R. Browning

Dr. Steven R. Browning is Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Epidemiology, as well as the Deputy Director of the Central Appalachian Regional Education and Research Center. He also holds joint appointments as a Faculty Associate for the Southeast Center for Agricultural Health and Injury Prevention and for the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center. Professor Browning’s research interests are in occupational, injury, and environmental epidemiology. His primary expertise is in the design and analysis of longitudinal studies of injuries.
Dr. Browning earned a Master of Science in Public Health and a PhD in Epidemiology from the Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has served as Principal Investigator on grants funded through the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the Environmental Protection Agency, and the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services. Professor Browning has published pieces in numerous journals including the Journal of Agricultural Safety and Health, Southern Medicine, and Public Health Reports.
