About Dr Steve Turner

Dr Turner PhD(Griffith), BTechEd(Hons)(Griffith), AdvDipMn(CIT) is a Senior Lecturer and Manager of Academic Practice and Digital Resources in the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at Southern Cross University. His PhD focuses on the manner in which adults represent and solve complex, ill-defined technological problems. This research is particularly relevant to the teaching and learning demands of the tertiary and industry sectors. His research interests extend to education for sustainable development (EfSD) and sustainable design practice.
 
His broad range of experience covers educational planning and course design, human resource management, change management, occupational health and safety, planning and performance, risk management, service delivery, financial administration and sales and marketing. Experience in the education field has taught Stephen that the public and corporate education sectors face the ongoing challenge of balancing demand with budgets while ensuring the organisations and market share continues to grow. To meet the needs of the provider and client these competing priorities are to be met whilst delivering teaching and learning outcomes of the highest standard. To accomplish these goals Stephen creates an environment that fosters initiative, innovation, creativity, equity and participative decision making. These strategies will ensure he continues to realise the business objectives and priorities of Southern Cross University based on a delivery and performance culture.
