Description
The author will draft a chapter for the Oxford Handbook of U.S. Social Policy outlining origins and development of Unemployment Insurance (UI) in the United States, describing the program (financing, eligibility criteria and beneficiaries, benefit levels, size, responsibilities of state and federal government, impact on recipients), examining forces that have shaped the program, and identifying problems and challenges facing the UI system.
