About Stephen A. King

Dr. Stephen A. King completed his PhD in Speech Communication at Indiana University and is currently the Chairperson/Professor of the Department of Communication Studies at Eastern Illinois University. Prior to his arrival to EIU in 2013, Dr. King taught at Delta State University, located in the Mississippi Delta, for 18 years. His research interests intersect rhetoric, intercultural communication and popular culture. King's work on blues and reggae music has been published in the Southern Communication Journal, Popular Music and Society, and Caribbean Studies, among other journals. The University Press of Mississippi published two of King's books: Reggae, Rastafari, and the Rhetoric of Social Control (2002) and I'm Feeling the Blues Right Now: Blues Tourism and the Mississippi Delta (2011).
