About Stephanie F Race

Stephanie is currently the Head of Research and Outreach at the University of North Florida’s Thomas G. Carpenter Library.

Stephanie has spent all of her working life in libraries. After falling in love with libraries as a page at her local public library, she worked as a clerk at the community college, a student assistant and graduate assistant at the USF Library. After completing her MLS at the University of South Florida she started her professional career as a media specialist in an elementary school. She then returned to work at the USF Tampa Campus Library Reference Department where she was involved with instruction, distance learning, reference, and the School of Information. Stephanie then moved to NEFLIN where she was responsible for a number of statewide projects, including the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute. From there it was on to the State Library where she coordinated statewide continuing education before transitioning to the Florida Electronic Library. She then served as the Outreach Services Librarian at Hernando County Public Library where she had the opportunity to plan events designed to draw the community into the library.
All of these experiences have helped her develop an extensive network of professional colleagues from all types of libraries.

On a personal note, Stephanie is a native Floridian who has lived and worked all over the state. Her family spent summers traveling North America in a converted Greyhound bus, but she’s still waiting to check Alaska and Hawaii off her bucket list. She enjoys baking, college baseball, and spending time with her nieces.
