Abstract

This article introduces an experiential approach to teaching a Human Resource Management course to undergraduate university students via the completion of a jigsaw puzzle. The purpose of this approach is to give students a common context in which to apply the terms and concepts learned in such an introductory course. The authors use a semester long active-learning approach, integrated with popular reality television show presentation and elimination strategies, to teach students to use their imagination, to work creatively as teams, and to think and act like Human Resource managers while "rolling out" a new product line via the metaphor of a jigsaw puzzle.
