About Stephanie M. McClure

Stephanie McClure is a professor of sociology at Georgia College. She has a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia and a masters and doctoral degree in sociology from the University of Georgia. She teaches classes on racial stratification, social theory, and the sociology of education. Her research interests are in the area of higher education, with a focus on college student persistence and retention across race, class and gender, with a special emphasis on post-college student experiences that increase student social and academic integration. She has published in the Journal of Higher EducationSymbolic Interaction, and The Journal of African American Studies. She is co-editor, with Cherise Harris, of an introductory race reader called "Getting Real About Race" (3e Fall 2021) and an introductory inequality reader called "Getting Real About Inequality: Intersectionality In Real Life (1e January 2022).
