About Stefanie Palma

Dr. Stefanie Palma has more than 42 years experience as a physical therapist and 33 years teaching physical therapy. She retired as Associate Dean and Director of Academic Services from UNG in 2016 and was awarded Professor Emeritus status.

Dr. Palma is a past president of the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy (2012-2018) and is also a past president of the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia (2001-2005). She is currently a certified neurologic specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and a certified brain injury specialist by the American Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists. She also practices out-patient neurologic physical therapy two days a week in Dahlonega, Georgia.

Dr. Palma continues to serve Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) as on site evaluator since 1988 and has had the privilege to serve as a commissioner twice (2000-2005) and on Central Panel for CAPTE (2009-2013) as vice chair of the commission. Dr. Palma has also served as an item writer for the Federation of State Board of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) for the NPTE (national physical therapy license exam) and on the Exam Development Committee (EDC) from 2010-2013. She currently is a lead reviewer and a content expert for American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education, the agency responsible for accreditation of physical therapy residency and fellowship programs.

Dr. Palma enjoys working with students and is herself an enthusiastic learner; she loves the profession and her main interest is working with patients with neurological conditions.
