About Stacey Nicely

Dr.  Stacey Nicely serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Graduate Department of Psychology and Counseling, adjunct faculty in the School of Distance Education, and Staff Psychologist| Prevention Coordinator at the Counseling and Testing center. Prior to pursuing a career in psychology, she worked in commercial banking for 10 years with her last full-time position being at the supervisory level. 
​​Dr. Nicely provides individual, couples (premarital and marital), and group therapy. Some issues she has provided interventions for include depression, anxiety, stress and coping, trauma-related concerns and resilience, self-esteem/personal growth, interpersonal relationship concerns, among others.  Her integrated therapeutic approach primarily includes Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Humanistic/existential therapy. She also utilizes other approaches which include Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Positive Psychology, aspects of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and assertiveness and coping skills training - depending on the presenting concerns.
Additionally, Dr Nicely is skilled at prevention programming. She collaborates with various campus personnel, Counseling center interns, and community professionals to plan and execute mental health in-reach and outreach activities to help avert mental health crisis. She enjoys conducting psychoeducational presentations on mental health related topics. ​She has presented on mental health and multicultural competency issues at local, regional, national, and international psychological conferences. She has also presented to denominational audiences in the U.S., Canada, and Jamaica.
​​Dr. Nicely is passionate about facilitating the multiple mental health processes that contribute to individuals living out their God-given potential and becoming the best version of themselves.
