About Stacey R. Hurrell, DNP, RN, LSN, CNE

Stacey joined the nursing faculty at St. Kate's in August of 2019. She has worked in a variety of settings during her nursing career, including acute care (GI surgical, neuro -trauma, collaborative practice), home care, hospice, as a family nurse practitioner and most recently as a school nurse. Nursing interests include: health care literacy and navigation, adolescent health, school-based health centers to increase primary care access, the role of the school nurse as a front-line provider in community health, diabetes care, preventive and maintenance care for the elderly, and the impact of emotional intelligence on teaching effectiveness and nursing student success. Stacey completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at the University of Minnesota, with doctoral work focused on school nurse cultural competency development using the National Cultural and Linguistically Appropriate Service (CLAS) Standards. She currently teaches in the College for Women in the following courses: Pathophysiology, Introduction to Professional Nursing and NURS 3800 where she helps leads a Community Health clinical rotation. She also serves as a faculty project advisor to DNP students in the Graduate School. Stacey is married and has two adult sons. She enjoys travel, fine arts, music and outdoor life in her home state of Minnesota!
