About Sriya Shrestha

Sriya received her PhD in American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California. She received an MA in liberal studies at the University of Michigan- Dearborn where she worked with the first Center for Arab American Studies and the Center for Automotive Heritage. Sriya teaches courses on race formation and gender with a focus on media, globalization, and critical theory. Her work on the history and expansion of dollar stores, the global skin-lightening industry, and transnational approaches to US inequality have been published in "Social Identities," "International Journal of Cultural Studies," and "The New Americanist."
