AbstractMary Shelley's Alastor is analyzed in light of the relationship between Gothic and Romantic literature. The relationship between Gothicism and Romanticism is assessed in light of literature. Shelly's poem is held up as a representation of mature Gothic literature owing a debt to Romanticism.
