About Sozina Katuli

Sozina joined Andrews University as an Assistant Professor and Research Coordinator in July 2015. She coordinates capstones and teaches research methods and statistics to entry-level DPT and teaches post professional tDPT and DScPT research courses. She also provides research support and mentorship for PT faculty.

A native of Tanzania, she graduated from Sokoine University in 1987, and joined the health field as a Nutritionist at the Provincial Medical Director’s office-PMD Matebeleland North-Zimbabwe in 1992. Sozina graduated with a Master’s in Public health - Research Epidemiology in 2009, and a Doctor of Public Health - Epidemiology in 2013 from Loma Linda University.

Sozina has engaged in international research work in maternal and child nutrition in Ecuador, Philippines and Zimbabwe. At Loma Linda she conducted various research including West Nile virus surveillance, and involved in Cardiovascular and Diabetes studies. Her most recent research focus was on breast cancer. Since June 2014 she has been engaged in cancer disparity and survivorship studies at Beckman Research Institute, City of Hope National Medical Center in California.
