About Soulit Chacko

Joining Boise State University in 2022, Dr. Soulit Chacko is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Sociology.  Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Indiana University Purdue University, Indianapolis. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A in Sociology both from Loyola University, Chicago and a B.A. in Urban Planning and Public Affairs from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also has an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Christ University, Bangalore, India. Dr. Chacko’s research focuses on migration experiences, including the exploration of how local histories are reshaped through migration processes and how they are practiced and embodied. Her current work illuminates the experiences of low-wage working immigrant women workers in the U.S. using an intersectional lens that includes race, religion, caste, gender, immigration status, and nationality.
