Digital Storytelling: The Vehicle to Build 21st Century Literacy Skills
Relato Digital Storytelling Conference (2012)
  • Sonia Chaidez, Whittier College
Abstract
It is imperative for college curricula to include technology skills as part of the higher learning experience. In order to compete in a job market that is becoming increasingly globalized through technology, students must acquire 21st century literacy skills, defined here as the ability to use digital, visual, textual, and technological tools in learning. Digital Storytelling provides a platform where students can engage in active learning strategies in writing, storyboarding, and assessment‐sharing in open learning environments.  (page 60)
