Using Data from Formative Assessments to Inform Teaching and Learning
E-ATP - The European Home of Assessment Conference
(2022)
Abstract
Transition from paper-based to computer-based assessment has made it increasingly easy to capture and report on learners’ performance. A wealth of reports is now available to teachers at the touch of a button. However, ACER’s research shows that teachers are not always clear about how to make best use of these reports and can be overwhelmed by the amount and complexity of information available. Within this session the ACER UK team will use examples of reports from our formative assessments and findings from our research into how schools use assessment data to explore how teachers can make best use of data from formative assessments to measure progression over time and to inform teaching and learning as well as to target interventions to support to particular cohorts of learners.
