About Sirani Mututhanthrige Perera

Sirani K. M. Perera has received BSc(Hons.) in Mathematics from the University Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka in 2004. She was the first Sri Lankan to attend the Center for Mathematical Sciences at the University of Cambridge, UK with full Shell Centenary Scholarship, and obtained Hons. Part III Mathematical Tripos in 2006. Under the supervision of Prof. Vadim Olshevsky, Perera received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Connecticut, USA in 2012.

Perera works as an assistant professor in Mathematics Department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University while working in the field of numerical linear algebra and scientific computing. Her research focus is to derive fast, stable, and exact algorithms and use those in signal processing, image processing, solving systems of equations, theories of interpolations, approximations, orthogonal polynomials, and eigenvalue problems. Perera(Co-PI) was recently awarded NSF grants(NSF Award numbers 1711625 and 1711395) for the project entitled ``Collaborative Research: Wideband Multi-Beam Antenna Arrays Low-Complexity Algorithms and Analog-CMOS Implementations" (2017-2020). The algorithms that she derives through the NSF grants will be utilized to solve the longstanding beam squint problem. Her dedication as an adviser has led her research students to obtain several external and internal awards from 2017 until today.
