Abstract
Film Censorship Institution is an institution established by the government to serve as a monitor and stipulate the status of film circulation in Indonesia. In addition to the status
setting, the censorship agency also sets the age group of viewers for the movie. In this study discuss about how the role of a Film Censorship Institution (LSF) in maintaining the moral of the Indonesian nation. The method used in this research is qualitative case study research method with data collection technique through observation, interview and literature study. This study uses the theory of communication policy and interpersonal communication. The results obtained from this research are information about the history, the roles performed, and the purpose of the establishment of Film Censorship Institution. In addition, this study also includes aspects of censorship, film content prohibited to air, and also the pros and cons of film censorship. This study shows that the Film Censorship Institution plays an important role in maintaining the moral of the nation. Because with regard to film content that will be aired will help people not to be affected by the dangerous scenes and illicit on the film.
