About Dr. Siamak Farhad

Dr. Siamak Farhad received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Waterloo (Canada) in 2012 in Mechanical Engineering. During his Ph.D. program, he worked two years as a visitor researcher at the National Research Council (NRC) Canada, Institute for Chemical Process and Environmental Technology. After graduation in 2012, he worked one year as a Post-doctoral Fellow in the “Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems” at Ryerson University; and then one year in both “Applied Nano-material & Clean Energy Lab” and “Electrochemical Power Sources Lab” at the University of Waterloo. His research goals include: (i) the development of new technologies and updating conventional technologies in heat & power generation and storage systems, (ii) applying nano-technologies to design new energy devices, and (iii) reduction of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in conventional energy systems. His current research focuses are primarily on lithium-ion batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles, micro-reformers, and electrochemical sensors.
