Visiting Assistant Professor
I joined the faculty at Butler University during the summer of 2019 after spending the previous academic year at the College of Charleston. I received my Ph.D. in 2018 from the University of California at Santa Barbara where I wrote my dissertation on "The Politics of Refugee Resettlement." I am passionate about a number of research topics, but the glue that binds them all is race and ethnic politics (REP). Some of my current projects include:
- The experiences of white converts to Islam.
- Moral panic theory and presidential rhetoric towards refugees.
- Confirmation delay for minority appointments in the U.S. Senate.
- White voter evaluations of candidates with military experience.
- The roots of Asian Pacific American Islamophobia.
