About Shuying Sha

Dr. Sha earned her PhD in Educational Research Methodology, Measurement and Statistics from the University of North Carolina—Greensboro. She has more than 15 years of research experience in quantitative research as well as in program evaluation. As a psychometrician at Excelsior College (New York) from 2016-2018, Dr. Sha worked to develop and conduct quality control of more than 50 tests to ensure their sound, validity, and reliability. Before joining the University of Louisville, she worked at the University of North Carolina School of Nursing as a biostatistician, where she provided methodological and statistical consultation to students on doctor of nursing practice (DNP) projects, and taught Epidemiology and Biostatistics for DNP students and Quantitative Research Method in Nursing Research to PhD students.
Dr. Sha’s role as a statistician is to work with faculty and students to improve health outcomes of the diverse populations. Besides statistics, she also has expertise in research design and survey development to ensure the quality of data collection. Dr. Sha has publications and conference presentations in multiple disciplines such as cognitive science, education, nursing research, psychometric, and statistical education, and served as a psychometric reviewer for several journals in nursing research. Her research interest is in psychometric studies of instruments, health culture, and value.
