About Sherri Garber Mendelson, PhD, RNC, CNS, IBCLC

Dr. Mendelson attended University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana and Chicago graduating in 1977 with a BSN.  She spent her early career in the Mother-Baby Unit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital before moving for one year to a Kibbutz in Israel.  Upon returning, she began work in Labor and Delivery at Lutheran General Hospital and completed her MS in Perinatal Nursing at University of Illinois in 1984.  Dr. Mendelson worked as a clinical nurse in all areas of obstetrics and pediatrics, NICU, and PICU before taking a position as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in 1984.  Her family moved to California in 1992.  Sherri was employed as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center since 1997.  She completed her PhD in Nursing at UCLA in 2007 and assumed a role as Director of Nursing Research and Magnet Program Director at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.
