Abstract
Since 1978, China’s economy has doubled every eight years, while during that same time period, the U.S. economy has doubled once. China’s remarkable economic rise since 1978 is not an accident. Careful economic and social engineering have placed China as the world’s second leading economy. This is an astounding achievement given what China has gone through over the past 150 years. From the ashes of failed ideologies and policies, the resilient Chinese have embraced economic globalization and stand poised to become the world’s new economic leader.
