Abstract
This open access text is the digital component of a comprehensive survey of the field of geography as it relates to the study and teaching of social studies and history. This course investigates the core concepts of space, place and environment and everyday uses of geographical knowledge and skills. Furthermore, this course provides a general overview of regional and conceptual topics including physical geography, human geography, environmental geography, and regional geography. Students will also learn to manipulate web-based GIS tools such as Google Maps and Google Earth in lab units which provide a solid grounding in digital mapping as well as world regional geography.
