About Dr Sheldon Rothman

Dr Sheldon Rothman, BA Massachusetts, MAT New Mexico State, MEd(Hons) UNE, EdD Harvard
Dr Rothman was a Principal Research Fellow in the Program Evaluation research program at the Australian Council for Educational Research.
He currently managed the On Track project, which surveyed all school leavers from Victorian secondary schools.
Since joining ACER in 2001 until the end of 2007, Dr Rothman worked mainly on the Longitudinal Surveys of Australian Youth (LSAY) project, of which he was project director from 2002. LSAY is a national research program that follows young people from the age of 15 until their mid-twenties, concentrating on the transition from school to work and further study.
At ACER, he has also developed materials used in Growing Up in Australia: the Longitudinal Study of Australian Children and analysed data from that project.
During 2008 and 2009, he supervised the psychometrics and data analysis team, which supports much of ACER’s assessment work.
Before joining ACER, Dr Rothman taught in American and Australian schools and universities, and worked in a variety of roles with state education departments in both countries.
