About Shayna Zelcer

Dr. Shayna Zelcer is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist whose research primarily concerns children with brain tumors. Dr. Zelcer investigates different aspects of diagnosis, management, and quality of life for children with brain tumors and other childhood cancers.

Dr. Zelcer joined the Department of Paediatrics at Children's Hospital (CH) and Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University in 2004. As an Assistant Professor, she has a clinical and research interest in Pediatric neuro oncology (brain tumours) as well as the care of patients with Neurofibromatosis.

She studied at the University of Toronto where she earned her B.Sc. and her MD degree. Dr. Zelcer completed her residency training at the Montreal Children's Hospital within the McGill University System and went on to earn her FRCP in Paediatrics from the Royal College. Her paediatric haematology and oncology fellowship training led her to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre at Cornell University.

She is currently the Principal Investigator for the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) at Children’s, LHSC, as well as for the Canadian Pediatric Brain Tumour Consortium.
