About Shayla Blake

Shayla Blake studied at Stetson University and Texas Tech University in the studios of Geoffrey Gilbert, flute and William Westney, piano.  As an undergraduate, she was a winner in Texas Tech University’s Concerto Competition. After achieving a Bachelor’s degree in piano performance, she completed her Master’s Degree as well, placing 1st Runner-up in the Texas Tech University Graduate Concerto Competition and was awarded the job of Graduate Teaching Assistant.
 
A member of the Louisiana Tech University music faculty, Blake teaches piano, flute, songwriting, Choral Arranging and is a staff accompanist.  She has also served at the University of Louisiana at Monroe as collaborative pianist and taught piano and flute in her private studio.  Shayla Blake has directed choirs and instrumental ensembles of all ages.  As a composer/arranger, her choral and piano compositions are published by Lorenz, Shawnee Press, Hal Leonard, Easy Choir Music.com and Fred Bock music.  Besides keeping a busy performing schedule, Shayla is a volunteer Regional Coordinator for Nashville Songwriters Association International for the Northeast Louisiana area and a member of Music Teachers National Association and ASCAP.
