About Shashi Kumar

Dr.(Mrs.) Shashi Kumar is Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee,India. She has obtained her Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees, all from University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee). She has more than 20 years of Research and Teaching Experience. Her research interests comprise of Modelling and Simulation, Computer Aided Design, Membrane Reactors and Separation Processes. She has published several papers in international journals and conferences. Having supervised many theses, nine more follow her supervision at IIT Roorkee. In addition, she has developed mathematical models for research works pursued by other researchers, done proof reading of their papers and guided them through their work. Her diversified experience has been many a times utilized by the institute for the development of the course curricula for undergraduate and graduate students. During her early years in the profession, she has been in an active role in many sponsored and consultancy projects.

  • Thomason Memorial Gold Medal on B.E. Chemical Project entitled, "Techno-Economic Feasibility Report on Synthetic Detergent Manufacture" from the University of Roorkee in 1978.
  • Acharya P.C. Ray Award (First Prize) on B.E. Chemical Project from Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Calcutta in 1978.
  • U.G.C. Fellowship in Chemical Engineering and Technology (Direct Awardee) from 1987 to 1991.
  • Merit Scholarship in all the four year of B.E. Chemical Degree course at University of Roorkee (1974-1978)
