Abstract
Numerous programs have been developed and implemented to reduce the number of unwanted children susceptible to parental substance use. One such program. Children Requiring A Caring Kommunity (C.R.A.C.K.), which focuses primarily on birth control methods as an alternative to reducing the number of children exposed to maternal substance use, is beginning to receive mixed reviews; particularly, among the African American community. This article discusses the C.R.A.C.K. program along with a spiritual alternative to maternal substance use. Implications
for practitioners are discussed.
