Supervising Direct Service Staff

Abstract
Staff competence cannot be defined solely by supervision or training, but by a dynamic combination of both elements. This multi-faceted approach to competency allows organizations to respond to the individual needs of employees by providing them with the appropriate supervision and training they need. At the same time, supervisors are responsible for making sure that the people they supervise are doing a good job – that they’re where they’re supposed to be when they’re supposed to be there, and that the work they do is of high quality. This training will cover the key components of a direct service supervisory session.
