About Robert M. Shapiro II

Robert M Shapiro II is a graduate of the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Kentucky where he received his master of arts in library science. He acquired a BA in philosophy and religion from Appalachian State University in 2000. Mr Shapiro is the Public Health Librarian and academic liaison to the College of Public Health for the Chandler Medical Center Library at the University of Kentucky. He has worked with the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection as a solo-librarian as well as a stint with Google. Mr Shapiro began his work with the National Coordinating Center for Public Health Services and Systems Research in 2008 and has worked on several projects including the development and maintenance of the PHSSR subset of the HSRR database; information seeking behavior studies of public health practitioners; citation analyses of PHSSR literature; and investigations into public health communication. Mr Shapiro is the Director of Knowledge Management for the online, open access journal Frontiers in Public Health Services and Systems Research. His research interests lie at the confluence of information science, public health, and communication science.
