About Shannon M. Smith

Shannon M. Smith joined Boise State University in 2021 and is currently an Assistant Professor and OER Librarian in the Albertsons Library’s Scholarly Communications and Data Management Unit. She earned her MLIS from the University of Washington’s Information School, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Writing from Southern Oregon University.  Ms. Smith’s current focus in on Open Educational Resources, and she has actively engaged with supporting both information and digital literacies within academic libraries. She values collaborative work and believes in the impact of building community. In addition to OER, Ms. Smith is experienced with library instruction, educational technology, collection development, and STEM/Makerspaces, and is passionate about digital scholarship, open access, and supporting more inclusive approaches to librarianship.
