About Shannon Meaney-Ryer

I am a strategic library administrator with strong leadership, partnership relations and patron driven vision interested in library administrative opportunities. Extensive experience in academic, specialized and public settings, in the areas of access services, reference and technical services. My main focus has been in information literacy, access services, emerging technologies, scholarly communications and library management and leadership.

I have worked in both public and academic libraries. My academic library experience includes community college, public, and private universities. The bulk of my experience is in Access Services and Emerging Technologies. My interests lie in library management and administration. I was extremely fortunate to be employed by the University of California San Diego, Lane Medical Library at Stanford University, San Jose Public Library in partnership with San Jose State University and now St. Mary’s College of California.
As a library administrator my core work is within patron driven services and seamless access to information. I believe that partnerships and collaborations are essential for libraries to tap into for expanding services, collections, instruction and resources. They not only create opportunities for libraries to innovate, but strengthen the communities for which we serve.
