Abstract
It  is  a  great  initiative  by  the  Government  of  Bangladesh  to
establish  the  National  Health  Data  Warehouse  of  Bangladesh.
Currently health data  from different govt. organizations are being
collected  and  summarized  through  two  open  source  software
solutions:  DHIS2  and  OpenMRS.  The  warehouse  opens  door  to
many  possibilities.  Healthcare  providers  and  researchers  will  be
able  to discover  the knowledge hidden  in  the national warehouse.
Preserving  record  linkage  in  national  health  data  warehouse  by
retaining patient identifiable attributes is essential for effective data
mining. On  the other hand,  identifiable health data have high  risk
to patient privacy and also make the security of health information
systems vulnerable to hackers. In this paper, we have presented the
available  features  and  limitations  of  National  Health  Data
Warehouse  of  Bangladesh.  As  the  warehouse  is  an  integrated
server  based  information  system,  we  have  also  discussed  the
security  threats  in  the  healthcare  servers  around  the  globe.  We
have provided recommendations to overcome the current problems
and to improve the performance and security of the warehouse.
