About Shafik Habal

Shafik Habal, MD, teaches microbiology and immunology in both the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and Master’s in Biomedical Sciences programs at PCOM Georgia. He also assists in the management of the microbiology laboratory on campus. Dr. Habal is involved in curriculum development and currently is working with a team of faculty to develop a curricular inventory and map.

Dr. Habal received his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale followed by graduate coursework in Molecular Biology. He earned his MD degree in 2003 from St. Matthews University School of Medicine.

Prior to joining PCOM, he held an Appointment at Xavier University School of Medicine as an Associate Professor of Medical Microbiology and Immunology.
