Abstract
"This paper focuses on modeling the flight dynamics a Bombardier Global 5000 (BD-700-1A11) deploying a discrete-time simulation methodology. The goal is to develop a medium-fidelity Flight Dynamic Model (FDM) of this aircraft to be deployed in a desktop flight simulator in the Next Generation Applied Research (NEAR) lab at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for validation of the future air traffic management concepts and control technologies. The model was designed using publicly available aircraft data. The design was implemented using JSBSim open-source flight dynamics modeler. The aircraft FDM, the engine forces, and the autopilot were developed in JSBSim and tested using fast-time simulation under different scenarios. Aircraft operational limits as well as operational flight manual published by the manufacturer have been used to validate the FDM properties and maneuverability. The results of the initial tests are presented in this paper."--From the paper.
