Abstract
Ranching is one of the main economic activities on many Indian reservations today. While especially true for the arid regions west of the Missouri River, many Indian tribes- from the Seminoles in Florida to tribes in California- also have substantial cattle ranching economics. Tribes have developed buffalo ranching operations as well. In the Southwest, sheep ranching has been part of Native cultures for hundreds of years.
