About Seán Crosson

My research interests include National Cinemas, Irish film, Irish Studies, film and sport, the digital humanities, and the relationship between music and poetry. I am programme director of the MA in Film Studies: Theory and Practice and the MA in Screenwriting at the Huston School of Film & Digital Media, NUI Galway []. I have given invited lectures and keynote addresses nationally and internationally on my research including in Norway, Austria, China, France, Finland, Sweden, Portugal, the UK and the U.S. and have contributed to leading international cultural events including Milwaukee Irish Fest and the Kilkenny Arts Festival. My current research project examines the representation of sport in film, the subject of a conference and several symposia held in the Huston School over the past five years, and of my monograph, SPORT AND FILM (Routledge 2013). I am President of the European Federation of Associations and Centres of Irish Studies (EFACIS) and was director of the ninth conference of the federation held in NUI Galway from 5-8 June 2013 under the theme TOWARDS 2016: OLD AND NEW IRELANDS []
