Professor Scott T. Smith PhD BE(Hons) CPEng RPEQ FIEAust FASCE FHKIE FIIFC
Professor Smith’s research interests include the application of advanced materials (e.g. fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites) for the repair and strengthening of existing concrete, metallic and timber infrastructure; and sustainable development of the built environment. He has published widely in the FRP composites in civil engineering field and has won several research awards from professional international institutions including:
•2011 Warren Medal, Engineers Australia
•2010 Distinguished Young Researcher Award, International Institute for FRP in Construction

•CICE 2008 Best Paper Award
•2004 Howard Medal, Institution of Civil Engineers UK (ICE)
To support his research he has been awarded USD1.7million from external sources (Australian Research Council ARC-Discovery, ARC-Linkage, RGC Hong Kong-General Research Fund, National Natural Science Foundation of China NSFC) and sources internal to the university.
To date he has published over 50 peer reviewed archival journal papers and over 90 peer reviewed conference papers. His publications have been cited over 1600 times in Scopus (h-index=20) and over 3900 times in Google Scholar. He has delivered 4 keynotes lectures, over 60 conference presentations, and over 70 invited presentations to universities and learned societies.
