About Scott Cummings

An inorganic chemist by training, Scott Cummings has taught courses ranging from Introductory Chemistry lectures and labs, through core courses in Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry, to advanced topics courses on Photochemistry and Photophysics, Hydrogen Energy and our department Senior Seminar. His research lab explores the excited-states of platinum(II) complexes, including luminescence, electron transfer, energy transfer and photoreactivity.
His broader interests include the analysis of solar energy technologies to address problems with fossil fuel dependence. Outside of chemistry, he enjoys a regular yoga practice, percussion, book collecting and the Columbian Exposition of 1893.
