Deconstructing the Complex Heroism of Severus Snape
Heroes and Villains of the Millennial Generation (2018)

Abstract
Although Harry Potter is obviously the protagonist of the iconic book and movie franchise of the same name, he is *not* the character who is the most surprisingly heroic. That honor goes to a hook-nosed, greasy-haired, bat-like man with black eyes who bullied students and invented curses that lacerated faces. This man, Severus Snape, held the ultimate redemption story.
