Abstract
Eleanor was a superb social activist with her deep passion for gender equality. She possessed all of “The Great Eight” characteristics which are attributed to heroes: smart, strong, selfless, caring, charismatic, resilient, reliable, and inspiring (Allison & Goethals, 2011). Eleanor used all of these characteristics throughout her life, and especially during her time as First Lady, to champion many social activist causes.
