Susan B. Anthony is a role model for feminists everywhere, a symbol of true social change and a definitive hero. But how did she get there? Transformation is an essential part of a hero’s journey (Allison & Goethals, 2017). Through the trials they experience, and the guidance they receive from their mentors, heroes are able to change, to discover in themselves the essential quality they were missing and thus complete their mission. For Susan B. Anthony, this personal transformation was not only essential for redefining her own path and learning more about herself, but also for empowering an entire society to transform as well.
